What is Shakti?
Shakti (Sanskrit: शक्ति), in Hindu, yogic, and tantric traditions, is revered as the feminine creative power of the universe, the force that makes things move/shake/come alive. Shakti is the energy of the Divine Feminine, mother goddess, Shakti. Also personified as the counterpart to Shiva (unmanifest potential), Shakti breathes life into Shiva and births new worlds.
In kundalini or tantra yoga, Shakti is associated with kundalini shakti, whose power lays dormant, like a coiled serpent at the base of the spine, until it is awakened via spiritual practices. In Indian culture, Shakti is said to be the Divine Feminine spark that lives in every woman. But we can all learn to harness this creative power within to create the kind of life/world we want!
What is Shakti Fire?
Creative Fire
The fire in the belly, sparks of passion, inspiration, creativity, the flames that spark change & fuel social justice movements, and births new ways of being into existence!
Alchemical Fire
Like fire in a cauldron, Shakti fire burns away heavy, dense emotions, limiting belief patterns, or anything that doesn’t serve your spiritual growth—and only leaves what does.
Revolutionary Fire
This fire burns down the old—to birth the new. It’s the Dark Feminine (Kali Ma, Hekate, etc.) rising up now to take down toxic masculinity (patriarchy, sexism, misogyny, & so forth).
Why is Shakti Fire Rising, Now?
Can you feel change in the air? We’re in a big time of transition in our society: An old era is ending & a new era is beginning. The reign of toxic masculinity in all its forms–patriarchy, colonialism, capitalism, racism, sexism, misogyny, homophobia, & more–is coming to an end. At the same time:
The divine feminine has been on the rise in recent history. It’s time for women & others from marginalized groups to reclaim our power to create balance. We know when we rise, we help others rise up with us & until all of us are free…none of us are free. Gaia is calling us: to heal our precious planet and all life on it.
You don’t have to do this alone. We heal together, in community!
